I often wonder/
why did we fall in love /
when we have nothing in common?
I love the mountains and you the sea; /
vegetables disgust me/
while you can literally thrive on them/
I am three and twenty
/ but I have the temperament of a toddler /
while you share my age yet sport the wisdom of a saint/
I sleep and wake up when I please/
I care not for time /
but anyone can set their clocks by you!
Why then did our hearts beat for each other /
when all we have in common /
is the uncommon?!
Ah! I see a delicate thread connecting our souls/
igniting our hearts and that bound us in love; /
a legacy of pain and hurt! _____________________________
